Yes, you might’ve seen the email as you compulsively checked your inbox while procrastinating homework. And yes, you may have archived it, too. But seriously…WHO HAS SEEN MY PEN? Mrs. Underwood sent out an email to the entire school, and NOBODY has responded! This pen meant so much to me.
I decided to adopt the Bic “Cristal” pen from the trash can last year, and ever since, it has been one of my most prized possessions. I nicknamed the pen Jeff after my dog, who died last year. Very tragic, I know, but I thought it would be a good memorial. My pen Jeff and I had been through thick and thin together. From all those long nights cramming for history tests to the freezing cold walks to and from the athletic building, Jeff was a loyal pen, and I could always count on him to get the job done. If I was in the middle of a test and stuck on one problem, I could simply glance over at Jeff, and he would look back reassuringly as he implanted the information into my brain. I guess you could say that he was my lucky charm, but I really don’t think that encapsulates how much he meant to me.
This is not an obituary for Jeff or anything. I know he is around the school somewhere. He is not the type that would just abandon me, and, of course, I would never abandon him. This whole situation is hitting me pretty hard, but I can hardly begin to fathom how much it is impacting Jeff! Imagine! Being such a small object in the middle of hundreds of bustling students! Probably smashed on the floor, too. So much intelligence, so much deference! All of it wasted as everybody stands by and does nothing. Really, though. If you see my pen, please save me from bombing my finals and kindly return it.
